International
Day of Peace
september 21
A global celebration of all the champions of the goals — and the love in action that makes our world better.
International Day of Peace
The International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations in 1981 to strengthen the ideals of peace among nations and people around the world. In 2001, September 21 was officially designated as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence.
The day also connects closely to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which recognize that peace is deeply tied to issues like poverty, hunger, education, equality, climate action, clean water, and justice. Together, these goals create a shared vision for a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future for all.
For The Global Love Project, the International Day of Peace reflects the belief that lasting change begins within our communities. Through kindness, connection, sustainability, service, and understanding, every person has the ability to help create a more peaceful world. Inspired by the message “Peace Begins With Us,” The Global Love Project encourages individuals to take meaningful action that supports both people and planet while helping build a future rooted in love, unity, and hope.
